Can you tell us a bit about yourself, your background and your business?
Ok so my background hasn’t always been hair. I worked in administrative roles most of my life. I decided I needed to change lanes during the last recession. I always had an interest in hair, so decided to get an ITEC qualification in Creative Hair. From there I contacted different Bridal Hair Stylists and did some workshops with them in order to learn from the best!. I continue to train and always will. I love what I do .
What do you love most about being a Hairstylist for brides?
I am very privileged to be a part of a very intimate moment in someone’s life. The morning can be very emotional and have some very touching moments. I love the positivity in the room and everyone is in great form. The excitement is palpable. I enjoy the bit of craic and try to bring a bit of fun in the morning.
What should brides look for when selecting the right hairstylist?
Firstly, do your homework. I would always recommend a bridal specialist. Read reviews from other brides ask friends or family for recommendations. Don’t be afraid to pick up the phone and have a chat with a couple of stylists, so that you can get a feel for their personality.
What is the most common mistake brides can make when it comes to their wedding hair style?
Commonly, there are no mistakes.!! At a trial we would discuss the brides overall style, the dress, the venue and their own personal style. Weather can also be a factor ( Hollywood waves just won’t do on the cliffs of Moher! )
What’s the best way a bride can prep her hair the night before her wedding?
I always recommend a good Pro shampoo and conditioner, your regular hairstylist will recommend which is most suitable to a brides hair. My favourites are Joico and Alfaparf. Also, not cutting your hair for 7 months before the wedding is not necessarily good. just like your skin, your hair should be healthy and shiny on your wedding day
Will you provide hair accessories?
I don’t stock hair accessories, however I do have recommendations for suppliers that i give to my brides.
Do you recommend a trial run before the wedding?
Absolutely. At a trial we discuss styling, hair condition and decide if extensions are needed. We go through the timings of the day. Although there are times when a trial is not workable, due to brides traveling from the US or Dubai etc, so in that case we can do a zoom consultation instead.
What’s the most important tip you have for brides having their hair done on the wedding morning?
Wash your hair the night before 2 x Shampoos and condition the ends. Blow dry smooth with a brush, ( unless you are washing your hair the morning of). Then sit back and let the magic happen.
What are the new trends for 2022?
I feel like we are going to see a lot of smooth, sleek bouncy waves. Of course boho trends are still hot for summer.
How far in advance of her wedding should a bride book her hairstylist?
As soon as your venue is booked. Particularly if you have a favourite hairstylist and Make Up Artist in mind. We normally book 2 years in advance.
